Diverticulitis Patient Project Opportunity!

Posted on the 12th July 2017

Hello there, my name’s Jonathan Cooke and I’m a Masters Student at the University of Sheffield currently studying Science Communication.

As part of my course, I have teamed up with the lovely people here at Core to investigate and produce offline and online content, which will provide information about diverticulitis, an issue close to the heart of Core.

Therefore, I’m proposing to create a ‘patient diary’ that can be used by patients dealing with diverticulitis and or their carers. Currently, I see this ‘diary’ as acting a way for patients to accurately report the symptoms they experience in order to give their GPs or related healthcare professionals a better idea of what they are dealing with.

In addition, this ‘diary’ would list ways that sufferers could help to relieve the worst of their symptoms, either through dietary changes or other assorted methods.

This is where I could particularly use some help. I would love to speak to you if you are a sufferer of diverticulitis or diverticular disease and get a first-hand account of the impact these conditions have on your day to day life. In addition, towards the end of July I will have produced the leaflet and would love to gain some feedback towards your thoughts on it. (i.e. what you liked about it, what could be improved.)

If you are a healthcare professional, I would also love to speak to you so that I could get an experts opinions on what information to include in the ‘diary’.

These discussions can take place at your convenience during July and can be conducted in anyway that best suits you anytime in July.

If this is something you would be interested in, or would like further information about how to get involved, do not hesitate to contact me. My email address is:

jonathaniaincooke@gmail.com

Alternatively, get in contact via Core at info@corecharity.org.uk or 020 7486 0341 and they will pass along your message to me.

Thanks once again

Jonathan Cooke
